lore

(my life's faqs)

so tell me about yourself
+

hey! i'm justin. it student at nhl stenden, minecraft plugin dev with 6000+ unique users, and i like building things that people actually use. currently startup maxing with insyra and launching 5th minecraft server season.

why this field?
+

for my 1st birthday my parents ran the old game where they lay out a bunch of objects and whatever the baby crawls to is supposed to be its future profession. i picked the floppy disc.

Baby crawling toward a row of objects laid out on the floor
the lineup
Baby sitting next to the floppy disc while family watches from the side
deliberating
Baby on the floor in the middle of the objects, deciding
verbatim floppy in hand

other than that, i was just curious how essentially anything is possible with a computer. planning, researching any topic, building things, fixing things, automating stuff. essentially limitless opportunities.

knowledge compounded and eventually i became the "go-to tech guy" in the family. if it has a screen or a cable, i get the call (i'm batman).

what's your biggest weakness?
+

i say "this should only take a few hours" way too often. (it never does).

what do you do for fun?
+

playing video games with friends, biking, rock climbing, meeting new people. i like being around people.

wait you make minecraft plugins?
+

yep. paper plugins in java, 6000+ unique users across them. that's honestly how i learned to code and run a business.

how'd you get into that?
+

started as a player on a server with strangers during covid. nobody really cared enough to keep it running properly, and there were barely any technical people in the community so i taught myself. first basic plugins with help from more experienced devs, then hosting our own server on linux at hetzner, and years later incorporating it.

each time someone asked for something new i just figured it out: yaml configs so non-devs (lore writers) could edit things, then apis, then whole seasons built around the plugins (cough...planes...).

do you still do that?
+

yes! launching season 5 in september '26. it's less constant than it used to be since the team can be self-sufficient upon request, but i'm nowhere near done with it.

how many "failed" minecraft plugins have you made?
+

guess!

(a "failed" plugin = something that ate 50+ hours and never shipped)

what are you working on right now?
+

hackathons, plugin upkeep, and architecting preventative measures for the minecraft server in the age of ai — the "cool kids" don't find dupe glitches themselves anymore, they social engineer claude into handing them one. patching that class of exploit is a whole job now.

how do you learn new stuff?
+

i just start building and figure it out as i go. if i get stuck i'll read docs or ask claude but i learn best by doing.

what's your tech stack?
+

i'm flexible so whatever the rest of the team is using. but my go-to when i'm solo is just js/html, python or java.

what's your typing speed?
+

around 105 wpm. but can you beat me?

0 wpm 0.0s

what's your favorite food?
+

chicken burger. buttermilk brined, decent crust, brioche toasted in butter, hot honey sauce poured over the top so it seeps into every crag, no lettuce.

what's your favorite terminal command?
+

claude --dangerously-skip-permissions.
